Having acquired a large tract of land in this
neighbourhood from the Canadian Pacific Railway, a land speculator named Ucal-Henri
Dandurand and his associate Herbert Holt set up the Angus shops, and sold the leftover
land for residential use. In 1905, the area was incorporated as the Village of Rosemont,
named after Dandurand's mother, Rose Phillips.
